Sheme, an original design brand, held this exhibition from May 10 to May 13. Viewers can have a close look at the classic works Sheme has to offer, which, thanks to the hard work of our international design team on ancient Chinese elements, present a unique “Oriental appeal and Occidental taste”.

Over the millennia, Shu embroidery has been developing in the folk society and passed on through oral instruction, with many of its rare stitches lacking systematic coaching. When it comes to modern times, standing up to the test of the industry and vicissitudes of history, Shu embroidery gradually expands to include over a hundred stitch methods under more than 10 categories, which are by no means replaceable! When we did our research on Shu embroidery, we realized that it’s a gigantic treasure trove. Shu embroidery can be used in designs for clothes as well as shoes, thus bringing about opportunities for the inheritance and innovation on Chinese traditional handicrafts. In this exhibition, we can see how embroiders combine traditional Chinese culture with international fashion and lend the beautiful elements contained in traditional Chinese culture to embroidery works.

In 2015, under the initiative of the brand founder Linda Liu, we embarked on a journey themed “the Flowing Art Unfolding, Sheme Shoes along the Silk Road”. Following that we designed 56 pairs of shoes, each with unique features of a nationality. In this exhibition, visitors got the chance to observe how Sheme’s designers interpret the “walking art”: with in-depth studies on the characteristics of 56 ethnic groups from different perspectives, such as architecture, costumes and accessories, our designers drew inspirations from the most distinctive elements of each ethnic group and turned these ideas into 56 pairs of shoes.
